Our Story

WireNut Home Services started as a family idea rooted in the belief that homeowners deserve a better service experience. What began as an electrical company has grown into one of Colorado Springs’ most trusted home service providers. Here’s how the journey unfolded.
2001

The Search for a Better Way


While working in the family construction business, Urban Electric, Trent Urban and his father recognized the need for a better way to serve homeowners. They began searching for a service model that focused on professionalism, transparency, and customer care.

Discovering the Service Model


After years of searching, the Urban family discovered a service-focused business model that prioritized upfront pricing, professionalism, and creating an exceptional homeowner experience. And thus, WireNut was created, initially managed by Urban family member Rob Urban.

WireNut Is Born


WireNut began running its first service calls with a single bright yellow van that quickly became recognizable around Colorado Springs.

A Turning Point


When the construction industry slowed during the recession, Trent Urban joined WireNut full time and began helping grow the service company with his brother Rob Urban.

WireNut was founded in Colorado — and we’ve always believed that being part of this community means giving back to it. That’s why we created WireNut Cares — a year-round effort to make a difference where it matters most.

We’ve donated over $200,000 to local nonprofits through our FOX21 forecast partnership, surprised families by covering holiday shopping carts, and helped warm homes by installing free furnaces for those in need. Through our Toys for Tots campaign, we’ve delivered bins of gifts to kids across the region — waiving service fees for customers who joined in.

For us, giving back isn’t a one-time thing. It’s part of how we do business — and part of what it means to be a company built in Colorado, for Colorado.

    I had an electrician named Tyler from The WireNut who I hired to install 4 ceiling fixtures. He covered his shoes with protective plastic so as to respect the floors cleanliness. He was strictly customer first. He was patient and flexible. He installed a ceiling fixture , and after further thought I asked him to undo it and install in a different room. He did it with good humor and stressed he was there to please the customer which he did. He also checked a few uncalled for items, just to be sure they were in good order for no additional charge. I was very pleased with Tyler, and would strongly recommend him and his company.

Jeremy Langford is a superb electrical technician. He came to our home today and analyzed and fixed a rather complex problem relating to circuit breakers and outages. Responsive, knowledgeable, and professional..!! Jesse Pogue, and his assistant, Adam, thoroughly evaluated our sink drainage problem, and presented three options for correction, which were very clearly stated.. Matt Russell was well prepared and and did an excellent job. He surveyed our plumbing system, and identified some deficiencies. Send him back next time! Connor O'Dell was highly professional, on time, friendly, and provided some much-needed information concerning our furnace. Please send him back next time! Emily Mabbott was only in our home for a short time. We apparently did not need the inspection that was scheduled. She was highly professional, friendly, and if we need A/C services in the future, Emily will be my first choice..!! Tristan Daffan did high quality work..careful and thorough. He is preparing recommendations to solve a bathroom issue. He was most friendly, and a real asset to Wirenut, I would say. Thanks for sending him! Highly professional, and friendly, from start to finish! Shad Roach and his crew completed a large re-wiring and switch-replacement project in an exceptional manner. Our home was built in the 1960's, which added to the complexities of the project. We are highly pleased, and are planning for more work in the future... Marc Kennedy is a remarkable technician. Replacing a furnace is a technically challenging and physically demanding effort. Marc's work was superb! He must be a us treasure for WireNut. He was quite informative, and actually discovered a serious flaw in our venting system which required immediate attention. Thanks, Mark, for your great service!! Robert Duncan did an excellent job. He as technically competent and friendly. He offered valuable advice in addition to the task he came to perform.
