Colorado Springs Outdoor Lighting Installation

Outdoor lighting does more than keep your porch visible after dark. Done right, it extends the usable hours of your outdoor space, improves curb appeal, adds a meaningful layer of security, and increases the perceived value of your property. In Colorado Springs, where summer evenings on the patio are some of the best the Front Range has to offer and winter darkness sets in early, outdoor lighting is less of a luxury and more of a practical upgrade most homeowners eventually wish they’d done sooner.

The difference between a professionally installed outdoor lighting system and a DIY kit from the hardware store shows up fast. Weatherproofing matters at Colorado Springs elevations, where UV exposure degrades cheap fixtures faster than at lower altitudes, hail can compromise exposed connections, and freeze-thaw cycles stress anything that wasn’t properly sealed and secured. A system installed by a licensed electrician is wired to handle those conditions, permitted where required, and built on dedicated circuits that won’t overload existing indoor wiring when you add more fixtures down the road.

WireNut’s licensed electricians handle outdoor lighting installation from initial assessment through final connection, including landscape and path lighting, security and flood lighting, accent and architectural lighting, deck and patio setups, and dedicated circuits for string lights or permanent holiday displays. We work with your existing electrical system to determine the right approach for your property, recommend fixtures that hold up to Colorado weather, and install everything to code so there are no surprises at inspection. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your outdoor lighting, schedule online and we’ll take a look at what your property needs.

Outdoor Lighting Options for Colorado Springs Homes

Outdoor lighting isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right setup depends on your property layout, how you use your outdoor space, what security gaps you’re trying to close, and what kind of aesthetic you’re going for. WireNut installs a full range of outdoor lighting types, and our electricians will walk you through the options before any work begins so you’re not making decisions blind.

Landscape and Path Lighting

One of the most common starting points for Colorado Springs homeowners. Well-placed low-voltage fixtures along walkways, garden beds, and driveways keep foot traffic safe after dark while adding dimension to your landscaping. At altitude, where UV exposure is more intense than at sea level, fixture selection matters. Cheap landscape lighting fades, cracks, and fails within a few seasons. WireNut specifies fixtures built for exterior use in climate conditions like ours.

Security and Flood Lighting

Motion-activated fixtures positioned to cover driveways, side yards, entries, and blind spots around the property are a proven deterrent and a practical safety upgrade. Placement matters as much as the fixture itself. Our electricians assess your property’s layout and identify the positions that give you actual coverage rather than just light in obvious spots that leave gaps elsewhere.

Accent and Architectural Lighting

Highlights the features of your home’s exterior, roofline, stonework, or hardscape. This category has expanded significantly with LED technology, giving homeowners more control over color temperature, brightness, and energy consumption than was possible even five years ago. Soffit and eave lighting in particular has become a popular option for Colorado Springs homes looking for a clean, finished look that doubles as a platform for seasonal displays without the annual hassle of stringing temporary lights.

Deck and Patio Lighting

Post lights, step lighting, under-rail lighting, and dedicated circuits for string lights or outdoor entertainment setups all fall into this category. If you’re running an outdoor kitchen, a hot tub, or a sound system on your patio, a dedicated circuit is the right way to handle the load rather than tapping into existing outdoor outlets that weren’t designed for continuous draw.

What to Expect from WireNut’s Outdoor Lighting Installation Process

Every outdoor lighting project starts with a walkthrough of your property. Before anything gets installed, a WireNut electrician assesses your existing electrical system, identifies the best routing for new wiring, and talks through fixture placement with you so the final layout matches what you’re actually trying to accomplish. There’s no pressure to upsell you into a larger project than you need, and no surprises once work begins.

From there, the installation process depends on the scope of the project. Smaller jobs, like adding a motion-activated security light over a garage or wiring a few path lights along a walkway, are typically completed in a single visit. Larger projects involving multiple lighting zones, new dedicated circuits, or trenching for underground wiring take longer, and we’ll give you a clear timeline upfront so you can plan around it. For a broader look at what our electricians handle, visit our electrical installation services page.

All wiring is run to code using materials rated for exterior and underground use where applicable. Colorado Springs freeze-thaw cycles are hard on anything that wasn’t installed correctly the first time, and our electricians don’t cut corners on weatherproofing, conduit protection, or connection quality just to finish faster. Permits are pulled where required, and inspections are handled as part of the job, not handed off to you to figure out.

When the installation is complete, your electrician will walk you through the system, show you how to adjust any timers or motion sensor sensitivity settings, and answer questions before leaving. Colorado Springs homeowners can also explore our dedicated Colorado Springs outdoor lighting page for more on how we serve the local area. WireNut’s goal on every outdoor lighting job is that you don’t need to call us back because something wasn’t done right the first time.

I have used WireNut several times for a variety of services, from checking plumbing lines to HVAC tune-ups and electrical work. No matter who they send or who I speak with over the phone, I’m always impressed by their professionalism and genuine family-oriented approach.

I had the privilege of working with Frankie today, and let me just say—what a great guy! He was easy to talk to, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and was incredibly personable. He’s exactly the kind of person you want representing your company.

The same goes for everyone I’ve spoken with over the phone. Dawn, Jason, and the entire staff have consistently been friendly, professional, and a pleasure to work with.

Thank you all for providing such outstanding customer service. It’s rare to find a company that delivers not only quality work but also makes every interaction feel personal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend WireNut to anyone looking for honest, professional, and caring service.

I had the pleasure of having WireNut help me with my serious plumbing problem. I had seen a sign somewhere that said they do plumbing - they have a good reputation - so I called. I had the pleasure of working with Frankie Vargas. He’s a gem and he went the distance to really ensure what was wrong and how to fix the problem. He explained the fix to me as it was complicated. But I understood. He was careful to explain options which they may be required to do if there were further complications and let’s face the truth, there can be complications. But he assured me and he was good to his Word, that they would explain the process along the way and even show me with the camera exactly what was going on. A few days passed and I was scheduled for service which required an inspection and a schedule with the local municipality - which delayed WireNut. But WireNut prevailed and the work began. The technicians sent were gentlemen and very sensitive to cleanliness - you know, keeping their work area clean and tidy while doing some difficult work. Those gentlemen Joseph Ellerd and Chris Beatty worked as a team. They were efficient and clever in their work which I watched much of the time. They maintained decorum in their language and in their respectful conduct. They were a real pleasure to know and like Frankie Vargas, they kept me apprised all along the way. I expect because of this consistent experience with WireNut plumbing department, that you too will find your experience more than completely satisfactory! It was certainly 5 Star and above!
