Aurora Air Conditioning

Aurora’s hot, dry summers put real demand on a home’s cooling system, and our elevation near 5,471 feet changes how effectively an AC unit actually transfers heat. WireNut’s licensed technicians service, repair, and install air conditioning throughout Aurora homes.

Air Conditioning for Aurora Homes

Air conditioning at Aurora’s elevation works a bit differently than it would at sea level, since thinner air affects how efficiently a condenser transfers heat outside. A system sized using standard sea-level calculations often ends up undersized here, especially in homes built before central air was standard, common in Original Aurora’s older housing stock.

Our technicians account for elevation and Aurora’s summer heat when sizing, repairing, or maintaining your system, and if your AC issue points to a bigger problem, we’ll walk you through AC repair or full replacement honestly.

What Aurora Homeowners Should Know About Air Conditioning

  • Elevation-adjusted sizing: a system sized for sea level often underperforms at Aurora’s elevation
  • Hail exposure: outdoor condenser units can take damage during Aurora’s frequent summer hailstorms
  • Age of existing equipment: older AC units in Original Aurora homes often run less efficiently than modern equivalents
  • Ductwork condition: leaky or undersized ducts can undercut even a well-sized system
  • Regular maintenance: keeps a system running efficiently through Aurora’s hottest months

Here’s what matters most when it comes to cooling an Aurora home.

Is My AC Just Old, or Genuinely Failing?

An older system that still cools but runs constantly or struggles on the hottest days is showing its age rather than necessarily failing outright. A system that’s stopped cooling entirely, is leaking refrigerant, or has a damaged compressor is a different situation and points toward repair or replacement sooner rather than later.

Repair or Replace an Aging AC System?

If your system is under 10 years old and the issue is isolated, repair usually makes sense. Once a system nears 15 years, especially one that was never properly sized for Aurora’s elevation, replacement often ends up being the more cost-effective choice.

How Does Elevation Actually Change AC Performance?

Thinner air at altitude affects how efficiently a condenser rejects heat outside, which means a system rated for sea-level performance can fall short here unless it’s specifically sized with Aurora’s elevation factored in.

Why Aurora Homeowners Choose WireNut

WireNut has earned 11 consecutive BBB Awards of Excellence in Customer Service, and thousands of Google reviews from Front Range homeowners back that up.

We size and service AC systems with Aurora’s elevation and hail exposure specifically in mind, not a generic approach borrowed from lower-elevation markets. We also keep an eye out for hail damage on outdoor units during every visit, since Aurora’s summer storms are one of the more common causes of reduced AC performance here.

Joe Ellard from WireNut Home services provided excellent customer service. They came to install a sewer clean out in the front yard. It involved digging a very deep hole. They were quick, efficient , friendly and kept us informed along the way. The work area stayed tidy through the whole job. When they were finished, they cleaned the area up and left it as if nothing had been done. Wonderful work. We will continue to use them as we have in the past, for all our heating, plumbing and electrical needs. I highly recommend them.

Cannan and Ian were both concerned about making sure I understood the process they were involved in and answered any questions and concerns I had on both days they were here. There was some miscommunication that involved the last day of installation and they both made sure that my HVAC was installed and running before they left that night. That had been their promise to me and they came through!
