Aurora Boiler Service

Some of Original Aurora’s oldest homes still run on hydronic boiler heat, a system many technicians today aren’t trained to work on. WireNut’s licensed technicians service and repair boilers throughout Aurora homes.

Boiler Service for Aurora Homes

Hydronic boiler systems were common in some of Aurora’s earliest homes, and while most of the city’s housing stock moved to forced-air furnaces during the 1960s and 70s construction boom, a number of older properties near Original Aurora still run on radiator or radiant floor heat from a boiler.

Our technicians service, repair, and maintain boiler systems, a specialty many HVAC companies have moved away from, and if your boiler is nearing the end of its service life, we’ll talk through whether heating replacement with modern equipment makes sense for your home.

Common Boiler Issues We See in Aurora

  • Uneven heat across radiators: often a sign of trapped air in the system
  • Boiler making banging or knocking sounds: can indicate mineral buildup or trapped air
  • Pilot light issues: common in older boiler models
  • Leaking or dripping: worth addressing quickly to prevent water damage
  • Aging equipment: boilers original to Aurora’s earliest homes are well past typical service life

Here’s what typically brings Aurora homeowners in for boiler service.

Is a Banging Boiler Dangerous or Just Annoying?

Banging or knocking sounds are usually caused by trapped air or mineral buildup and are more of an efficiency issue than an immediate danger. That said, a boiler that’s leaking, showing rust, or has a pilot light that won’t stay lit should be looked at promptly.

Repair the Boiler or Switch to Forced Air?

If your boiler is in reasonable condition and radiators are still functioning well, repair and continued maintenance usually makes sense. If the system is failing throughout and a full renovation is already planned, switching to a modern forced-air furnace is worth discussing as a long-term option.

Can a Boiler System Be Modernized Without Full Replacement?

In some cases, yes, upgrading the boiler unit itself while keeping existing radiators and piping can improve efficiency without the disruption of switching to forced air entirely.

How Long Do Boiler Systems Typically Last?

A well-maintained boiler can last 20 to 30 years or more, which is part of why some of Aurora’s oldest homes are still running on their original or near-original systems today.

Technician was very thorough and very professional. He explained everything he was doing and why. I was very comfortable with his technical knowledge and he was able to get our AC up and running very quickly. It was a little more expensive than I thought it was going to be but Sam Montejano did a great job.

Joe Ellard from WireNut Home services provided excellent customer service. They came to install a sewer clean out in the front yard. It involved digging a very deep hole. They were quick, efficient , friendly and kept us informed along the way. The work area stayed tidy through the whole job. When they were finished, they cleaned the area up and left it as if nothing had been done. Wonderful work. We will continue to use them as we have in the past, for all our heating, plumbing and electrical needs. I highly recommend them.

Cannan and Ian were both concerned about making sure I understood the process they were involved in and answered any questions and concerns I had on both days they were here. There was some miscommunication that involved the last day of installation and they both made sure that my HVAC was installed and running before they left that night. That had been their promise to me and they came through!
