Castle Rock Smoke Detector Installation & Replacement

Smoke detectors save lives when they are working correctly, in the right locations, and interconnected so an alarm in one room alerts the entire home. WireNut installs, replaces, and interconnects hardwired smoke detectors in Castle Rock homes to current code requirements.

Smoke Detector Services for Castle Rock Homes

Castle Rock homes built in the last few decades should have hardwired smoke detectors that are interconnected, meaning when one alarms, all of them alarm throughout the home. Older homes may have battery-only detectors that were never connected to the home’s wiring, or hardwired detectors that are now old enough that their sensing chambers have degraded and they no longer respond reliably. Smoke detectors have a recommended replacement interval of 10 years, and a lot of Castle Rock homes have detectors that are well past that without the homeowner realizing it. WireNut assesses the existing smoke detection coverage and brings it up to current code during any installation or replacement project.

Smoke detector work that is part of a broader electrical safety assessment is handled in conjunction with our electrical inspection service. For carbon monoxide detector installation alongside smoke detectors, combination units are available as part of the same installation. See the full Castle Rock electrical services page for everything we offer.

Smoke Detector Work WireNut Handles in Castle Rock

  • Hardwired smoke detector replacement for aging units that are chirping, malfunctioning, or past their recommended 10-year service life.
  • New hardwired smoke detector installation in Castle Rock homes that currently have only battery-operated detectors or inadequate coverage.
  • Interconnected system installation so that all detectors in a Castle Rock home alarm together when any single unit detects smoke.
  • Combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector installation for comprehensive protection from both hazards with a single device in each location.
  • Code compliance update for Castle Rock homes being renovated or sold that need smoke detector placement and coverage brought up to current requirements.

Here are the smoke detector situations our Castle Rock electricians handle most often.

How Often Should Smoke Detectors Be Replaced in Castle Rock?

The National Fire Protection Association recommends replacing smoke detectors every 10 years regardless of whether they appear to be working. The sensing chamber degrades over time and a detector that is 12 years old may not respond reliably to smoke even if it passes a weekly test button check. Castle Rock homes that were built or last renovated more than 10 years ago often have smoke detectors that are due for replacement. WireNut can check the manufacture date on your existing detectors during any service visit.

Where Are Smoke Detectors Required in Castle Rock Homes?

Current code requires smoke detectors inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home including the basement. In Castle Rock homes being renovated, these requirements apply to the affected areas. For new construction and significant renovations, interconnected hardwired detectors are required. Battery-only detectors without interconnection may not meet current code for renovations in Castle Rock. WireNut installs to current Douglas County code requirements and advises on what coverage your home needs.

Good reliable service and knowledgeable technicians. I was apprehensive at first as I thought they would charge a lot more for certain things, but I’ve used them twice already and I think their prices are fair and reasonable.

Really looking forward to working with them for new AC unit and furnace and tankless hot water heater..I'll add more to my review when the job is done..ps they caught that my house under from 16 years ago isn't up to code, so they are fixing that too. Tankless hot water heater went in today and it's great..they were VERY qualified and knowledgeable about all aspects of the job. The entire crew were pleasant and courteous. I really appreciate the work so far! I'm looking forward to having the AC, furnace combo up n running on Wednesday of next week. And I will review it then. I would have them in my house any time.

I am on the process of closing the sale of my home and experienced the A/C tripping a breaker. The house inside temp climbed to 85 degrees quickly. I called Wirenut and they scheduled an electrician for the next morning. The technician called me in the morning and because he knew we are closing on the house he decided to take an HVAC technician with him. Together they were able to identify a capacitor went bad in the compressor. Over the years I have always been impressed with the technicians with Wirenut. They are always professional knowledgeable, and courteous. I highly recommend Wirenut!
