Electrical Wiring for Centennial Homes

Centennial’s older housing stock carries a range of wiring conditions. Homes from the 1970s may have aluminum branch circuit wiring that requires specific handling at connection points. Homes from the 1980s often have wiring that is functional but aging, with connections that have loosened over decades. And homes throughout the build era have been added to over the years with varying quality, creating a mix of wiring conditions under one roof. WireNut electricians assess what is there before recommending what needs to change.

Wiring projects often connect to panel work. If adding circuits requires panel capacity that is not currently available, our electrical panels team handles the upgrade before wiring begins. For rewiring projects that are part of a broader renovation, our electrical installation team coordinates the full project scope. See all Centennial electrical services.

Wiring Projects WireNut Handles in Centennial

  • New circuit wiring from the panel to new outlets, fixtures, or dedicated appliance locations throughout the home.
  • Basement finish wiring, including rough-in for outlets, lighting, and dedicated circuits in finished basement spaces.
  • Partial rewiring in areas where aging or damaged wiring needs to be replaced rather than repaired.
  • Aluminum wiring remediation using copalum crimping or AlumiConn connectors at connection points in homes with aluminum branch circuit wiring.
  • Knob-and-tube removal and replacement for the small number of Centennial homes with original early-era wiring still in place.

Here are the electrical wiring projects our Centennial electricians handle most often.

Does My Centennial Home Have Aluminum Wiring and Is It Dangerous?

Aluminum branch circuit wiring was used in many homes built between roughly 1965 and 1973 as a cost-saving alternative to copper. It conducts electricity fine, but it expands and contracts more than copper under heat cycles, which causes connections at outlets, switches, and junction boxes to loosen over time. Loose connections create resistance, which creates heat, which creates fire risk. This is the core concern with aluminum wiring, not the wiring itself running through the walls.

The remediation is not a full rewire in most cases. The standard approach is to install AlumiConn connectors or use the copalum crimping method at every outlet, switch, and connection point to create a safe, stable connection between the aluminum wire and a short copper pigtail. This is a project WireNut handles in Centennial homes and can typically be completed in a single day for a standard-sized home.

When Is Rewiring the Right Answer vs. Repairing?

Rewiring makes sense when the existing wiring is aluminum throughout the home and full remediation is more cost-effective than connection-point-only work, when wiring insulation is degraded or damaged in multiple areas, or when a renovation project is opening walls anyway and the opportunity exists to update wiring at the same time. Repair makes more sense for isolated wiring issues in otherwise sound systems.

WireNut will give you an honest assessment of which approach is warranted for your Centennial home’s specific conditions. We do not recommend full rewires when targeted repairs will solve the problem, and we do not recommend targeted repairs when the underlying wiring condition makes that approach inadequate.

I have used WireNut several times for a variety of services, from checking plumbing lines to HVAC tune-ups and electrical work. No matter who they send or who I speak with over the phone, I’m always impressed by their professionalism and genuine family-oriented approach.

I had the privilege of working with Frankie today, and let me just say—what a great guy! He was easy to talk to, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and was incredibly personable. He’s exactly the kind of person you want representing your company.

The same goes for everyone I’ve spoken with over the phone. Dawn, Jason, and the entire staff have consistently been friendly, professional, and a pleasure to work with.

Thank you all for providing such outstanding customer service. It’s rare to find a company that delivers not only quality work but also makes every interaction feel personal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend WireNut to anyone looking for honest, professional, and caring service.

I had the pleasure of having WireNut help me with my serious plumbing problem. I had seen a sign somewhere that said they do plumbing - they have a good reputation - so I called. I had the pleasure of working with Frankie Vargas. He’s a gem and he went the distance to really ensure what was wrong and how to fix the problem. He explained the fix to me as it was complicated. But I understood. He was careful to explain options which they may be required to do if there were further complications and let’s face the truth, there can be complications. But he assured me and he was good to his Word, that they would explain the process along the way and even show me with the camera exactly what was going on. A few days passed and I was scheduled for service which required an inspection and a schedule with the local municipality - which delayed WireNut. But WireNut prevailed and the work began. The technicians sent were gentlemen and very sensitive to cleanliness - you know, keeping their work area clean and tidy while doing some difficult work. Those gentlemen Joseph Ellerd and Chris Beatty worked as a team. They were efficient and clever in their work which I watched much of the time. They maintained decorum in their language and in their respectful conduct. They were a real pleasure to know and like Frankie Vargas, they kept me apprised all along the way. I expect because of this consistent experience with WireNut plumbing department, that you too will find your experience more than completely satisfactory! It was certainly 5 Star and above!
