Gas Line Services for Centennial Homes

Centennial homes with Xcel Energy natural gas service have gas lines feeding furnaces, water heaters, ranges, dryers, fireplaces, and outdoor grills in many cases. As these appliances are replaced, added, or relocated, the gas lines that serve them need to be extended, capped, or modified by a licensed professional. Gas line work also comes up when older flexible connectors degrade and need to be replaced, when a gas smell indicates a leak at a fitting or connector, or when a homeowner wants to add gas service to a new appliance location.

Gas line work in Centennial connects to both plumbing and HVAC. For gas appliance replacement that includes the appliance itself, our furnace service team handles gas furnace replacement and connection. For emergency gas situations, our emergency plumbing team responds after Xcel Energy has cleared the home. See all Centennial plumbing services.

Gas Line Work WireNut Handles in Centennial

  • New gas appliance connections for ranges, dryers, fireplaces, outdoor grills, and other appliances being added to locations with existing gas service.
  • Gas line extensions to reach new appliance locations that are not currently served by an existing gas stub-out.
  • Flexible connector replacement for aging corrugated stainless steel tubing or older flexible connectors that are past their safe service life.
  • Gas leak detection and repair for homes where a gas odor has been detected at a specific appliance connection or in a specific area of the home.
  • Gas line capping and decommissioning for appliance locations that are being converted to electric or where gas service is being removed.

Here are the gas line projects our Centennial plumbers handle most often.

How Do I Know If I Have a Gas Leak in My Centennial Home?

Natural gas has a distinct sulfur or rotten egg odor added specifically so leaks can be detected by smell. If you detect this odor in your Centennial home, leave immediately without operating any switches or electrical devices, call Xcel Energy from outside, and do not return until the utility has assessed the situation. Even small gas leaks carry serious explosion risk if gas accumulates in an enclosed space.

For a gas smell localized to a specific appliance connection rather than throughout the home, the source is usually a failing flexible connector at the appliance shutoff or a loose fitting at a union or valve. These are still emergency situations requiring immediate action. Turn off the gas shutoff at the appliance if you can do so safely, ventilate the area, and call WireNut for emergency gas line repair.

What Types of Gas Lines Are Used in Centennial Homes?

Older Centennial homes from the 1970s and 1980s were typically plumbed with black iron pipe for gas distribution inside the home. Black iron pipe is durable but corrodes over decades and can develop leaks at threaded fittings where corrosion breaks the seal. Many newer installations and repairs use corrugated stainless steel tubing, or CSST, which is flexible and easier to route through finished walls but requires proper bonding and grounding to prevent damage from lightning-induced electrical surges.

WireNut assesses the existing gas line material in your Centennial home and uses the appropriate materials for any extension or repair work, ensuring the connections meet current code requirements and pass Arapahoe County inspection.

I have used WireNut several times for a variety of services, from checking plumbing lines to HVAC tune-ups and electrical work. No matter who they send or who I speak with over the phone, I’m always impressed by their professionalism and genuine family-oriented approach.

I had the privilege of working with Frankie today, and let me just say—what a great guy! He was easy to talk to, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and was incredibly personable. He’s exactly the kind of person you want representing your company.

The same goes for everyone I’ve spoken with over the phone. Dawn, Jason, and the entire staff have consistently been friendly, professional, and a pleasure to work with.

Thank you all for providing such outstanding customer service. It’s rare to find a company that delivers not only quality work but also makes every interaction feel personal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend WireNut to anyone looking for honest, professional, and caring service.

I had the pleasure of having WireNut help me with my serious plumbing problem. I had seen a sign somewhere that said they do plumbing - they have a good reputation - so I called. I had the pleasure of working with Frankie Vargas. He’s a gem and he went the distance to really ensure what was wrong and how to fix the problem. He explained the fix to me as it was complicated. But I understood. He was careful to explain options which they may be required to do if there were further complications and let’s face the truth, there can be complications. But he assured me and he was good to his Word, that they would explain the process along the way and even show me with the camera exactly what was going on. A few days passed and I was scheduled for service which required an inspection and a schedule with the local municipality - which delayed WireNut. But WireNut prevailed and the work began. The technicians sent were gentlemen and very sensitive to cleanliness - you know, keeping their work area clean and tidy while doing some difficult work. Those gentlemen Joseph Ellerd and Chris Beatty worked as a team. They were efficient and clever in their work which I watched much of the time. They maintained decorum in their language and in their respectful conduct. They were a real pleasure to know and like Frankie Vargas, they kept me apprised all along the way. I expect because of this consistent experience with WireNut plumbing department, that you too will find your experience more than completely satisfactory! It was certainly 5 Star and above!
