Highlands Ranch Electrical Wiring

Original Northridge homes from the early 1980s were sometimes wired with aluminum branch circuits, a common practice at the time that carries real risk if the connections haven’t been properly addressed. WireNut rewires and repairs electrical wiring throughout Highlands Ranch, matched to what your home’s construction era actually requires.

Electrical Wiring Matched to Highlands Ranch's Construction History

Aluminum branch wiring shows up most often in homes built in Highlands Ranch’s earliest years, and while it isn’t automatically dangerous, the connections at outlets and switches can loosen over time in a way copper wiring doesn’t, creating a genuine fire risk if left unaddressed. Our electricians know how to properly correct these connections, whether that means a full rewire or targeted connector repairs at each affected point.

Newer Highlands Ranch homes in Backcountry and other recent developments use modern copper wiring throughout, so wiring issues there usually trace back to a specific installation error or an overloaded circuit rather than the wiring type itself. Whatever era your home falls into, we diagnose accurately before recommending a fix, and if the wiring issue is paired with panel-level problems, our panel upgrade service addresses that side of things too.

What Highlands Ranch Homeowners Ask About Electrical Wiring

  • Aluminum branch wiring: Common in original Northridge homes from the early 1980s, and worth having properly assessed.
  • Knob-and-tube remnants: Rare in Highlands Ranch given its 1980s start, but occasionally found in partial renovations using salvaged materials.
  • Undersized circuits: Common in any era when a room’s use has changed significantly since original construction.
  • Whole-home rewires: Sometimes the more cost-effective option versus repeated targeted repairs.

Here’s what comes up most often when we assess wiring in Highlands Ranch homes.

Is aluminum wiring dangerous in my Highlands Ranch home?

Aluminum wiring itself isn’t inherently unsafe, but it expands and contracts differently than copper, which can loosen connections at outlets and switches over time and create a fire risk at those points. The fix isn’t always a full rewire; often, properly rated connectors (a process called pigtailing) at each affected connection point resolves the issue safely and at a fraction of the cost of rewiring the whole house.

How much does rewiring a Highlands Ranch home cost?

Cost depends heavily on whether you need a full rewire or targeted repairs at specific problem areas, plus how accessible the existing wiring is behind walls and ceilings. We assess the actual scope needed rather than assuming a worst-case rewire is necessary, and we’ll walk you through exactly what we find before recommending a path forward.

The electrician, who came out to my house to fix an issue. His name was Jarred, he was amazing. He was super friendly, very clear on explaining everything to me, he was also very efficient, explained all of my options and what may need to be done coming up. there was no pressure, he it was very professional, he did a great job and wire nut is very lucky to have him on their team. That review was from June. I also had work done today, with a different electrician from WireNut, his name was also Jared. He was also professional, super friendly and also very informative, explaining information in an understandable way. It is great that WireNut can send different electricians and the same high quality service and interactions are received. I appreciate the work, the information and the excellent customer service both of these men gave.

Very professional, courteous and prompt. Was able to get my repair done and water back on within a 1/2 hour. Had to have an emergency call out as I needed the water back on asap, so I was ok with that fee. The cost for the repair was very high as compared to buying the parts and doing it myself. I just didn’t have time or the specialty tools to do it myself. All this being said, I would highly recommend them based on their quality of work and great service.

The technician (Karson) that came to diagnose and give an estimate was quick, communicated exactly what we needed, and answered all questions. Financing was available for our needs as well. He scheduled a same day water heater installation for us, and the installation resolved the bad smell throughout our home. The technician (Cruz) that completed the installation was knowledgeable, and scheduled our inspection for us when he was done. Overall great service, and will use WireNut for our future needs. Thank you!
