Tips for Making Your Heating System More Efficient

Here are some changes you can make this winter to save big on your heating bill:

Set your thermostat for while you are away

Set your thermostat to a lower temperature while you are away during the day or when no one is home. Doing so can save you up to 10% on your yearly heating bill. The optimal temperature for energy savings is between 68 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Improve your insulation

Adding insulation to an attic or crawlspace that is lacking it can cut as much as 50% off your heating bill if done right. This is an area that most people do not think of when trying to increase their utility bill savings.

Cover or fix any cracks in windows and doors

If your home is getting a draft from poorly insulated doors or windows, it is worth considering replacing them, or lining them with weather stripping.
