Centennial Outlet & Switch Installation

Dead outlets, outdated two-prong receptacles, missing GFCI protection, and not enough outlets in the right places are all common in Centennial’s older homes. WireNut handles outlet and switch work of all kinds with licensed electricians and upfront pricing.

Outlet and Switch Services for Centennial Homes

Centennial homes built before 1990 frequently have ungrounded two-prong outlets, missing GFCI protection in kitchens and bathrooms, and not nearly enough outlets in living areas and bedrooms for today’s device count. Adding outlets, upgrading to three-prong grounded receptacles, installing GFCI protection where it is required, and adding USB outlets in high-use areas are all straightforward projects that make a real difference in how a home functions day to day.

Outlet and switch work sometimes reveals wiring conditions that need attention. Our electrical wiring team handles wiring issues found during outlet work. For homes that need additional circuits to support more outlets, our electrical installation service adds circuits from the panel. See all Centennial electrical services.

Outlet and Switch Projects WireNut Handles in Centennial

  • GFCI outlet installation in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and exterior locations where ground fault protection is required by code.
  • Three-prong outlet upgrades to replace ungrounded two-prong receptacles throughout older Centennial homes.
  • Additional outlet installation in rooms that are short on receptacles, including bedrooms, home offices, and living areas.
  • USB outlet installation for high-use charging locations throughout the home.
  • Dimmer switch installation and smart switch installation for lighting circuits throughout Centennial homes.

Here are the outlet and switch projects our Centennial electricians handle most often.

Why Are My Outlets Ungrounded in My Centennial Home?

Homes built before the mid-1960s used two-wire wiring without a ground conductor. In Centennial, some homes from the 1960s and early 1970s may still have original two-wire wiring in some or all circuits, leaving outlets ungrounded. Ungrounded outlets do not provide the electrical fault protection that grounded outlets do, which matters for sensitive electronics and power supplies that rely on the ground for protection.

The options for bringing ungrounded outlets up to code include running new grounded wiring to the outlet, installing GFCI outlets in the ungrounded locations (which provides shock protection even without a ground), or using GFCI breakers to protect the full circuit. WireNut will assess the wiring in your Centennial home and recommend the right approach for your specific situation.

How Do I Know If My Centennial Home Has Enough GFCI Protection?

Current electrical code requires GFCI protection for outlets in bathrooms, kitchens within six feet of a sink, garages, exterior locations, unfinished basements, and near pools or hot tubs. In older Centennial homes that have never been updated, GFCI protection is often missing in some or all of these locations. A quick way to check is to look for the test and reset buttons on outlets in these areas. If you do not see them, and the outlets are not protected by a GFCI breaker, you are likely missing required protection.

WireNut can install GFCI outlets in all required locations throughout your Centennial home as a single project, which is often more cost-effective than addressing them one at a time as individual issues surface.

Why Centennial Homeowners Choose WireNut for Outlet and Switch Work

WireNut has been handling residential electrical work in Colorado since 2004 and has earned 11 BBB Excellence in Customer Service Awards. Outlet and switch work is some of the most common electrical work in older Centennial homes, and WireNut does it correctly and to code every time.

We do not install outlets without checking the wiring behind them first. In older Centennial homes, what looks like a simple outlet swap can reveal aluminum wiring, loose connections, or ungrounded circuits that need to be addressed before the outlet is installed. We tell you what we find before proceeding.

I have used WireNut several times for a variety of services, from checking plumbing lines to HVAC tune-ups and electrical work. No matter who they send or who I speak with over the phone, I’m always impressed by their professionalism and genuine family-oriented approach.

I had the privilege of working with Frankie today, and let me just say—what a great guy! He was easy to talk to, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and was incredibly personable. He’s exactly the kind of person you want representing your company.

The same goes for everyone I’ve spoken with over the phone. Dawn, Jason, and the entire staff have consistently been friendly, professional, and a pleasure to work with.

Thank you all for providing such outstanding customer service. It’s rare to find a company that delivers not only quality work but also makes every interaction feel personal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend WireNut to anyone looking for honest, professional, and caring service.

I had the pleasure of having WireNut help me with my serious plumbing problem. I had seen a sign somewhere that said they do plumbing - they have a good reputation - so I called. I had the pleasure of working with Frankie Vargas. He’s a gem and he went the distance to really ensure what was wrong and how to fix the problem. He explained the fix to me as it was complicated. But I understood. He was careful to explain options which they may be required to do if there were further complications and let’s face the truth, there can be complications. But he assured me and he was good to his Word, that they would explain the process along the way and even show me with the camera exactly what was going on. A few days passed and I was scheduled for service which required an inspection and a schedule with the local municipality - which delayed WireNut. But WireNut prevailed and the work began. The technicians sent were gentlemen and very sensitive to cleanliness - you know, keeping their work area clean and tidy while doing some difficult work. Those gentlemen Joseph Ellerd and Chris Beatty worked as a team. They were efficient and clever in their work which I watched much of the time. They maintained decorum in their language and in their respectful conduct. They were a real pleasure to know and like Frankie Vargas, they kept me apprised all along the way. I expect because of this consistent experience with WireNut plumbing department, that you too will find your experience more than completely satisfactory! It was certainly 5 Star and above!
