Security-Widefield Electrical Panel Replacement

An outdated electrical panel in your Security-Widefield home is a safety risk and a limitation on what your home can power. WireNut’s licensed electricians replace old panels correctly, with permits and inspections handled from start to finish.

Electrical Panel Replacement for Security-Widefield Homes

Security-Widefield has a large inventory of homes built in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, many of which still have their original electrical panels. Panels from that era were typically 60 to 100 amps, which was sufficient for the appliances and electrical loads of that time but falls well short of what most households need today. Add in the documented safety failures of certain panel brands from that period, and the case for replacement becomes clear in a lot of Security-Widefield homes. WireNut’s licensed electricians replace outdated panels with modern 200-amp service panels that handle today’s loads safely and leave room for future additions.

Panel replacement also resolves many issues that make targeted panel repair insufficient. If your panel is a known problem brand or is simply too old and undersized to repair safely, replacement is the right answer. We also pair panel replacements with electrical wiring upgrades when the circuits feeding the new panel need to be brought up to current code.

Reasons Security-Widefield Homeowners Replace Their Electrical Panels

  • Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco panel replacement due to documented safety failures
  • Upgrade from 60 or 100-amp service to 200-amp modern service
  • Panel replacement ahead of EV charger installation or major home addition
  • Old panels that can no longer be safely repaired or updated to code
  • Panels with insufficient breaker slots that require constant workarounds
  • Insurance company requirements for panel replacement on older home purchases
  • Panel damage from water intrusion, pest activity, or overheating events

Our electricians handle panel replacements across a range of situations in Security-Widefield:

Permits, Inspections, and Utility Coordination

Panel replacement in Security-Widefield requires an El Paso County permit and a final inspection before the utility reconnects service. WireNut handles the permit process, coordinates with Colorado Springs Utilities or the relevant utility, and schedules the inspection so you don’t have to navigate it yourself. We take care of the full process from permit application through final inspection and power restoration.

Planning for Future Loads

Security-Widefield homeowners who are also planning to add EV chargers, upgrade to electric appliances, or add solar panels or battery backup in the coming years should factor those future loads into the panel replacement planning conversation. Having those requirements in mind during a panel replacement means the new panel is configured to accommodate them without another service entrance modification a few years down the road. WireNut sizes replacement panels to handle your current needs and leave room for future growth.

Documentation After Replacement

After a panel replacement in Security-Widefield, WireNut provides documentation of the work performed, the permit number, and the inspection result. Keep this in your home records. It’s useful when you refinance, sell the home, or need to demonstrate to an insurance carrier that the panel was replaced by a licensed electrician and passed county inspection. Security-Widefield homeowners who can show a documented panel replacement history are in a stronger position during home sale negotiations.

I have used WireNut several times for a variety of services, from checking plumbing lines to HVAC tune-ups and electrical work. No matter who they send or who I speak with over the phone, I’m always impressed by their professionalism and genuine family-oriented approach.

I had the privilege of working with Frankie today, and let me just say—what a great guy! He was easy to talk to, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and was incredibly personable. He’s exactly the kind of person you want representing your company.

The same goes for everyone I’ve spoken with over the phone. Dawn, Jason, and the entire staff have consistently been friendly, professional, and a pleasure to work with.

Thank you all for providing such outstanding customer service. It’s rare to find a company that delivers not only quality work but also makes every interaction feel personal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend WireNut to anyone looking for honest, professional, and caring service.

I had the pleasure of having WireNut help me with my serious plumbing problem. I had seen a sign somewhere that said they do plumbing - they have a good reputation - so I called. I had the pleasure of working with Frankie Vargas. He’s a gem and he went the distance to really ensure what was wrong and how to fix the problem. He explained the fix to me as it was complicated. But I understood. He was careful to explain options which they may be required to do if there were further complications and let’s face the truth, there can be complications. But he assured me and he was good to his Word, that they would explain the process along the way and even show me with the camera exactly what was going on. A few days passed and I was scheduled for service which required an inspection and a schedule with the local municipality - which delayed WireNut. But WireNut prevailed and the work began. The technicians sent were gentlemen and very sensitive to cleanliness - you know, keeping their work area clean and tidy while doing some difficult work. Those gentlemen Joseph Ellerd and Chris Beatty worked as a team. They were efficient and clever in their work which I watched much of the time. They maintained decorum in their language and in their respectful conduct. They were a real pleasure to know and like Frankie Vargas, they kept me apprised all along the way. I expect because of this consistent experience with WireNut plumbing department, that you too will find your experience more than completely satisfactory! It was certainly 5 Star and above!
